Sunderland defender Danny Collins has committed himself to the club until 2010.

The 26-year-old Wales international, who had a year of his existing deal to run, has been rewarded for his contribution to last season's Championship title push.

Collins said: "I am delighted. I really enjoy it here and I was pleased the club decided to offer me a new deal.

"Now I am just looking forward to cracking on with pre-season training and all the games we have lined up over the next few weeks before the Premier League starts."

Celtic defender Bobo Balde has pledged his immediate future to the Glasgow club despite reported interest from Sunderland.

Roy Keane was reported to have made a £1.5million offer for his former Hoops team-mate as he continues to strengthen his squad for a return to the Premiership.

But Balde insists he wants to see out the remaining two years of his contract.

The 31-year-old has returned to action after a broken leg and is determined to regain his place in the centre of the defence amid fierce competition from Stephen McManus, Steven Pressley, Darren O'Dea, Gary Caldwell and John Kennedy.

"I have made it clear in the past that I am very happy at Celtic and I am not interested in anything else," the Guinea international told the Daily Record.

"I love the club, I am very settled in Glasgow and I would be happy to fulfil my current contract.

"As far as I am concerned nobody has spoken to me about a move anywhere. I just want to be fit and ready for the start of the new season.

"I am just concentrating on getting my fitness back to where it was. Last season was one to forget and I want to get back to my best."
