Eircom League round-up: With leaders St Patrick's Athletic not in action until tomorrow night - and second-placed Bohemians involved in the Intertoto Cup - Cork City and Derry City both kept the pressure on the top two tonight.
Derry enjoyed the more comfortable evening, clinically dispatching Bray Wanderers 4-0 at the Brandywell. Gareth McGlynn set the ball rolling with a first-minute strike but the home fans had to wait until the hour mark before Mark Farren doubled the advantage.
Thomas Stewart marked an impressive debut with a sweet volley for Derry's third and Kevin McHugh added to the tally three minutes from time.
Cork's long trip to the north-west to face Finn Harps also yielded three points although player-of-the-month Dave Mooney's first-half penalty was all that separated the sides.
Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers condemned UCD to a third successive defeat with a 2-0 win at Belfield while Galway's long wait for a second league victory continues after they were held 1-1 by Sligo Rovers.
