Cork City are to appeal the red cards received by Joe Gamble and Danny Murphy after the final whistle blew in their Champions League first round qualification match against Apollon Limassol.
The match ended in 1-1 draw which was enough for Cork to progress following a 1-0 at Tuners Cross last week.
After the match ended last night violence erupted both on and off the pitch. As a result Gamble, Murphy and two Apollon players Mohammad Hamadi and George Merkis were shown red cards.
A Cork City official described the incident as an attempt at intimidation and said that bottles and lighters were thrown from the crowd after the game ended.
It is understood that a bottle narrowly missed Cork City manager Damien Richardson's head as he made his way from the pitch at the GSP Stadium.
The official confirmed that Cork are currently preparing an appeal.
If the cards stand both players would miss Cork's next Champions League game against fomer European Champions Red Star Belgrade.
Cork have until next Monday to launch an official appeal with Uefa.
