Sligo Rovers 0 Derry City 2: Pat Fenlon's Derry City recorded their second league victory of the season with a 2-0 win over managerless Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds.
Derry, who had defender Dave Rogers sent off, missed a penalty in the ninth minute when Mark Farren saw his effort well saved by Sligo goalkeeper Richard Brush.
Nevertheless, it wasn't long before the visitors made their dominance pay off. Barry Molloy opened the scoring after 33 minutes when his stunning 25 yard effort rifled into the Sligo net.
Derry doubled their advantage seven minutes later when in-form striker Kevin McHugh volleyed home from distance at the second attempt, the ball cannoning off the underside of the bar despite Keith Foy's attempt to clear.
Sligo, though, rallied after the break and stuck gamely to their task but found a resilient Derry side particularly difficult to break down.
