Considering Derry City are nigh on certain to make it into the first round proper of the Uefa Cup - following their 5-1 thumping away to Gretna during the week - the Eircom League side will seek to play their home tie away from the Brandywell.
The reason being is that the Brandywell only holds a 3000 capacity, so, in order to meet ticket demands, while realising the full financial potential, a switch to Lansdowne Road could be on the cards.
"Our hearts would say that we want to stay in the Brandywell but we have to be realistic as well," said club chief executive Jim Roddy on the BBC. "If we are only going to be able to accommodate 2,500 to 3,000 people into the Brandywell and there's a demand for 10,000 tickets, then we have to consider that."
The club will firstly seek advice and considerations of all parties invloved, including manager Stephen Kenny and the fans.
The chances of Derry drawing a top level club cross channel is highly likely if they advance to the next stage. Potentially yhey could meet clubs such as Spurs, Newcastle or West Ham from the Premiership or Rangers from the SPL.
First though Kenny's side must host Gretna at the Brandywell in the return leg on Thusday week (24th). The first round ties are scheduled for September 14th and 28th.
