Shelbourne took a big step towards the second round of the Intertoto Cup today with a 1-0 win over FK Vetra in Lithuania.
Sean Dillon's header just before half-time was the difference between the sides, giving Pat Fenlon's side a crucial away goal to take into the second leg at Tolka Park on Saturday.
The first half started slowly in humid and sticky conditions, with Shelbourne eventually taking control of the game.
After Joseph Ndo had had a goal disallowed for offside, the visitors scored the only goal in the 42nd minute when Dillon headed in Ndo's cross.
The Lithuanians had the better of the second half and Shels' goalkeeper Dean Delaney needed to be in good form with several good saves. PA
