Soccer:Shakhtar Donetsk claim they have rejected a bid from Chelsea for Brazilian playmaker Willian. Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas admitted over the weekend he was an admirer of Willian, but played down talk of a move for the player in this month's transfer window.
Shakhtar have said they rejected one offer in the region of €20 million for Willian, with the Donetsk outfit holding out for a larger fee for the 23-year-old playmaker. Shakhtar are reluctant to lose Willian, but they concede the South American is keen on a move to Chelsea.
"We have no burning desire to sell the player, but in football some things are impossible to avoid," Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin said. "If it weren't for our good relationship with Chelsea - and Willian does not hide his intention to test himself in one of the best clubs in the English Premier League - we would insist on the £29m release clause written into the player's contract.
"It is important to understand that we are talking about Chelsea's desire to buy Willian, but not Shakhtar's desire to sell him."
Elsewhere, Wesley Sneijderhas ruled out a move away from Inter Milan during the current transfer window. The Dutch midfielder is a reported target of Manchester City and Manchester United but the 27-year-old insists he is staying put.
“I am in good shape and I feel well,” Sneijder told Gazzetta dello Sport. “The future? I stay at Inter, I feel good here. How much is left until the end of this transfer window? A week, no? I’m staying here.”
Sneijder, who is under contract with Inter until June 2015, has scored one goal in eight league appearances for the Nerazzurri this season.
