Reading striker Kevin Doyle, Manchester City defender Richard Dunne and Newcastle United goalkeeper Shay Given are the three nominees for the FAI international senior player-of-the-year award.
The trio were chose by a panel from the Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland and the winner will announced at the awards ceremony in Dublin on February 3rd.
Despite a series of controversial incidents a both international and club level, Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland is in the running for the young player-of-the year award. The Cobhman is joined on the list of nominees by Reading's Shane Long and Aiden McGeady of Celtic.
McGeady's clubmate Darren O'Dea is nominated for the under-21 award as are Aston Villa's Stephen O'Halloran and Stephen Quinn of Sheffield United.
Ireland and Doyle are both in the running for goal of the year; the former for his Croke Park strike against Wales and the latter for his stunning long-range effort away in Slovakia. Robbie Keane's goal against Wales in Cardiff completes the short-list.
On the domestic front, Longford Town striker Dave Mooney finished the season as top scorer despite the fact his club were relegated from the Premier Division. He is in contention for League of Ireland player-of-the-year along with Bohemians goalkeeper Brian Murphy and Drogheda' United's consistent defender Brian Shelley.
The Hall of Fame, Special Merit and International Personality Awards will be announced on the night. The eircom International Goal of the Year will be decided by public vote. Details on how to vote for this category will be announced at a later date.
