Soccer:As expected, Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle will be sidelined for up to two months following the medial knee ligament injury he suffered against Macedonia on Saturday night.

Doyle was forced out of the 2-1 win after just 17 minutes at the Aviva Stadium and returned to Wolverhampton this morning where scans revealed a tear to his medial ligaments.

As rehabilitation times can vary for this particular injury, Wolves have not ruled out Wexford man for the remainder of the season but Doyle will be out of commission for at least four weeks.

“The scan has confirmed that Kevin has torn his medial collateral ligament,” said the head of Wolves’s medical department, Steve Kemp. “We will be working with Kevin to get him back as quickly as the injury allows but the likely time span is anywhere between four and eight weeks.”
