Drogheda United could go top of the eircom Premier League on Tuesday after a 1-0 win at the Brandywell and a scoreless draw for St Patrick's Athletic at the Carlisle Grounds.
Pat's had a four point lead before a ball was kicked this evening but were unable to find the net against Bray Wanderers after the 13th minute sending off of midfielder Alan Kirby.
Drogheda were also playing away but managed to keep all their players on the pitch and secure a 1-0 win over Derry, thanks to a Sami Ristila goal in the 34th minute.
A home win at home to Bray on Tuesday could therefore see Paul Doolin's side go top of the league.
Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers salvaged a point at Terryland Park thanks to a 93rd minute goal from Tadhg Purcell.
Galway United looked set to take all three points after a Derek Glynn goal eight minutes from time, but Rovers rallied to ensure they move into third, one point ahead of Bohemians.
Second half goals from Adam Hughes and Matthew Judge ensured Sligo Rovers move up in to sixth ahead of their hosts UCD.
