Eircom League round-up: Drogheda United eked out another of their famous slimline victories tonight with a 1-0 besting of Longford.

In their ninth 1-0 win his season, Drogheda enjoyed the approval of lady luck and most observers would agree that Longford deserved more for their tactical domination.

Over at Richmond Park, St Patrick's Athletic put two past Cork for what must have been a very satisfying 2-0 win over the champions.

Although Cork had strong spells in this end-to-end encounter, St Pat's always looked stronger and when an impressive Trevor Molloy consolidated an own goal from City captain Dan Murray with a goal of his own on 50 minutes, the game was effectively finished.
