Drogheda United virtually guaranteed their place in the semi-final of the Setanta Cup tonight with a 4-0 drubbing of a poor Portadown side. Cork City had their work cut out before they managed a narrow 1-0 win away to Dungannon Swifts.
Paul Keegan scored Drogheda’s opener after just seven minutes before Shane Barrett added a second two minutes later, his first goal for the club. Skipper Declan O'Brien sealed the win after the half hour mark then added another 10 minutes after the break.
Portadown defender Kyle Neil was sent off for a foul on Shane Robinson with 10 minutes to go.
In the night’s other game Denis Behan scored Cork’s winner after 52 minutes.
