Bohemians 0-0 Shamrock Rovers:Although both sides were deadlocked and goalless by the final whistle, today's match between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers at Dalymount Park still contained all the passion expected from a high tempo Dublin derby.
The first half was full of chances with Rovers’ Stephen Ryan going closest after his well executed header was saved by an acrobatic Brian Murphy in the Bohemians goal. Murphy was also on hand to stop a well-taken low drive from Ollie Cahill.
At the other end Barry Murphy was also kept busy as he was forced into save after save with the pick coming after Paddy Madden was denied just before the break. At the start of the second half Murphy was quickly called into action once more when Conor Powell’s cross deflected of Aidan Price to force a reflex save.
It would have been impossible to keep the same energy for 90 minutes and it was no surprise to find the pace of play slowing in the second period.
The home side had a chance to steal all three points at the death when Jason Byrne met Paul Keegan's free but he put the ball wide after 87 minutes.
Another chance came to Gary Deegan in extra time when substitute Glen Crowe played him through but the effort went wide of the target.
There was no denying the real heroes of the afternoon were the two goalkeepers in this top of the table clash in front of a crowd of almost 5,000.
The result keeps champions and leaders Bohemians five points clear of Rovers in second.
