Damien Duff successfully completed a medical at Fulham this afternoon and is expected to finalise a €4.5million switch from Tyneside to Craven Cottage tomorrow.
The Republic of Ireland and Newcastle winger will be reunited with former Blackburn Rovers boss Roy Hodgson, whom he played under during the Englishman’s year long spell at Ewood Park from 1997.
The 30-year-old has spent three years at Newcastle after his move from Chelsea and is believed to be taking a pay cut in the region of 30 per cent, or around €26,000.
“Every time he’s played for Ireland he’s consistently been one of their best performers. We know what we’d be getting with Damien – he’s an experienced and quality player,” said Hodgson recently.
