Transfer News:Manchcester City have confirmed the deal has been agreed with Aston Villa for club captain Richard Dunne to move to Birmingham, while Everton's medical team will run the rule over Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin this evening.
Republic of Ireland international Dunne is set to discuss personal terms with Villa and looks likely to join Martin O'Neill's side for a fee of around €6.8million. The arrival of Joleon Lescott and Kolo Toure at Eastlands meant the Dubliner had fallen down the pecking order.
"City can confirm that the Club has agreed a fee with Aston Villa for defender Richard Dunne and the 29-year-old skipper is travelling to the Midlands to discuss personal terms for a move to Villa Park," a statement on the City website read this afternoon.
Villa this evening sealed a €4.7million move for Blackburn left-back Stephen Warnockafter the 27-year-old passed a medical today.
Rovers moved swiftly to replace Warnock by bringing in Tottenham defender Pascal Chimbonda.
Lescott's €24million move from Everton pushed the Toffees into the market for a replacement and while Dunne was considered by the Merseysiders, Frenchman Distin was always their first choice.
The fee involved has not been disclosed, but the 31-year-old Distin has agreed a three-year contract and will sign if he passes the medical.
Everton chief executive Robert Elstone told the club's website: "After Sylvain made it clear his preferred destination was Goodison, the chairman [Bill Kenwright] moved quickly to finalise the deal - and Sylvain is now on his way to Merseyside to undergo a medical."
Tommy Smithhas signed Portsmouth from Watford on a four-year deal.
The 29-year-old attacker has moved to the South Coast after the two clubs agreed a fee thought to be in the region of €2million.
Smith played more than 170 times for Watford during two spells at Vicarage Road, finding the back of the net 50 times for the Hornets.
Stoke have completed the signing of Robert Huthfrom Middlesbrough.
The 25-year-old defender today finalised personal terms after undergoing a medical, and he could be followed to the Britannia Stadium by Boro striker Tuncay Sanli.
The Turkish striker was in talks with the Potteries club’s hierarchy today, with Stoke expected to pay around €12million for the pair.
