Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne has warned against complacency when his Manchester City side open their European campaign this evening.
Their journey starts in the Faroe Islands with a first leg tie against EB/Streymur in round one of the Uefa Cup qualifying round.
There is a long way to go for new boss Mark Hughes and his men, but Dunne is determined to lead the club to a new level.
"All of us are looking forward to the game and this competition. A European run is something we have been looking for at this club over the last few years. Now we are here we do not intend to waste the opportunity we have been given," said the City captain.
"Now we have got a chance to progress and push on as a club but we have to be very professional about this and make sure we do not slip up here.
"It will be a tough game because it is such a big occasion for them. They will have everything to play for and we have to be careful. But we are here to win and we want to get through these early rounds. We will be very disappointed if we do not win."
