Soccer:Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has conceded that Richard Dunne won't be fit for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Sweden and Austria. The central defender has not played this season as he struggles to overcome a groin problem and Trapattoni will now plan without him for the double-header.
Ireland face Sweden in Stockholm on Friday, March 22nd before taking on Austria at the Aviva Stadium the following Tuesday.
It had appeared Dunne was on track for the Sweden game when he returned to training with Aston Villa in January only for the 33-year-old to break down again with his club manager Paul Lambert casting doubt recently on whether he will play again this season.
Trapattoni, who was speaking at an engagement in Drogheda for the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre, also confirmed that he will call upon the fit-again Marc Wilson and Seamus Coleman for the qualifiers. The Italian is due to name his full squad at a press conference tomorrow afternoon.
