Aiden McGeady prospective move to the English Premier League moved a step closer today after he was placed on the transfer list by Spartak Moscow.

The Republic of Ireland winger, who moved to Moscow from Celtic for £9.5 million in 2010, is reported to have fallen out with Spartak coach Valery Karpin.

McGeady is out of contract at Spartak at the end of the season and while the Russian club are unlikely to receive anything like the £9.5 million they paid for him, they are keen to recoup some of that transfer fee.

A number of English clubs have been linked with McGeady, with Everton said to be heading the queue for his signature.

A move to Everton would see him link-up with fellow Ireland internationals Darron Gibson, James McCarthy and Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park.

McGeady is also believed to be a target for Aston Villa, Fulham and Newcastle United.
