Burnley’s Robbie Brady suffers 'serious' knee injury

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has confirmed the Robbie Brady will undergo scans after sustaining a “serious” knee injury during the first half of their 1-0 defeat at Leicester on Saturday.

Brady was stretchered off just 30 minutes into the Premier League match after a clash with Leicester’s Harry Maguire.

“It looks more serious than not serious to me; that’s all I can say,” Dyche told the club’s website.

“He’s gone off to hospital, so we need to find out more before I can give the full facts. It’s a blow because Robbie has been excellent lately. Some of his deliveries today were excellent and he’s settled into the team nicely.

“He’s a good character in the group and he’s been building with his performances. Today he started fantastically well, so it’s a real knock for him and us and hopefully we’ll find out more details soon.

“But we’ve had knocks like this before, so we’ll rethink things and move forwards.”

The Ireland international, who scored the winner for the Clarets on Wednesday night against Bournemouth, went down under a challenge from Maguire and had his leg placed in a brace before departing the pitch looking in some distress.

Brady had been attempting to shoot after jinking through the Leicester defence and Maguire flicked the ball away as he swung through, causing their legs to crash together.

While Ireland don’t play a competitive fixture until September 2018 the injury could serve as a blow to Burnley who are currently flying high in sixth place and havce a busy festive period coming up.
