Cristiano Ronaldo set to make second debut for Man Utd; Clubs awaiting confirmation over South American players

Crystal Palace (14) v Tottenham Hotspur (1), 12.30 – Live on BT Sport
Crystal Palace could hand debuts to new signings Will Hughes, Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise, who is fit again after a back injury having joined in the summer. Luka Milivojevic is in contention having missed the opening weeks of the season due to personal reasons, but Jeffrey Schlupp (hamstring) has joined Nathan Ferguson and Ebere Eze (both Achilles) on the treatment table.

Son Heung-min is a doubt for Tottenham after picking up an injury while away with South Korea. Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Giovani Lo Celso will not feature as they are quarantining after travelling to South America for international duty. Steven Bergwijn, Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon all returned from the international break with knocks and will be assessed.

Arsenal have Thomas Partey available for the first time this season following an ankle injury. Ben White (Covid) and Gabriel Magalhaes (knee) are also back in contention, as is Eddie Nketiah (ankle). New signing Takehiro Tomiyasu could make his debut but Mohamed Elneny (hamstring) is out while Granit Xhaka is banned.

Norwich will check on several players returning from international duty, including American forward Josh Sargent (hamstring) and Greek winger Christos Tzolis (calf). Kenny McLean (knee) has been able to train again, but Dimitris Giannoulis (back) and Christoph Zimmermann (ankle) are out. New signings Ozan Kabak and Mathias Normann could be involved, while Bali Mumba (knee) and full back Sam Byram (hamstring) continue their own rehabilitation.

Brentford defender Frank Onyeka is back in training following his positive Covid-19 test, but Mads Bech Sorensen (knee) and Josh Dasilva (hip) both continue their recovery. New signing Mathias Jorgensen could have to wait for his debut as his one-year deal is subject to confirmation of a work permit and international clearance.

Brighton could hand a debut to Marc Cucurella, who joined from Getafe ahead of the transfer deadline. Republic of Ireland forward Aaron Connolly should be fit after sitting out the 1-1 draw against Serbia. Jurgen Locadia is in contention having recently returned to the club following a loan spell with FC Cincinnati, while Dan Burn (knee) and Tariq Lamptey (hamstring) remain out.

Leicester will have Ricardo Pereira (hamstring) and Ryan Bertrand (Covid) available. Jonny Evans (foot) and Jannik Vestergaard (knock) are progressing but Saturday's game may come too soon while Ayoze Perez is still suspended after his red card against West Ham.

Manchester City’s third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson could start as the club await a ruling on whether Ederson will be able to play. Ederson and striker Gabriel Jesus are caught up in the row involving the Brazilian football federation, Fifa and the Premier League and could be banned. Fellow stopper Zack Steffen is unavailable after testing positive for coronavirus, while Kevin De Bruyne (ankle) and Phil Foden (foot) are both back in training.

Manchester United (3) v Newcastle (17)
Cristiano Ronaldo will make his second Manchester United debut and Jadon Sancho is also available despite pulling out of the England squad through injury. Fred could be ruled out due to Brazil requesting their Premier League-based players do not participate, Alex Telles will not feature and Scott McTominay may also miss out, but Dean Henderson (Covid-19) is making good progress. Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones and Amad Diallo are out.

Newcastle striker Callum Wilson is out with a thigh injury and Ryan Fraser is also absent, having withdrawn from the Scotland squad with an ankle problem. Paraguay international Miguel Almiron is available after the threat of a Fifa ban receded and Karl Darlow has returned to training following a bout of Covid-19. Paul Dummett, Jonjo Shelvey (both calf) and Isaac Hayden (knee) are closing in on returns with Martin Dubravka (foot) working his way back to fitness.

Watford attacker Joao Pedro could make his first appearance of the season after returning to training following a knee injury. Ozan Tufan could make his debut but Ben Foster (hamstring) is injured and Francisco Sierralta's availability remains unknown while Watford continue their dialogue with Fifa, after Chile asked for the defender to be banned having missed international duty.

Wolves will have Raul Jimenez available for the match after coming to an agreement with the Mexican football federation, after the forward was not allowed to participate on international duty. Hwang Hee-Chan could be in line for a debut but Jonny and Pedro Neto are out and expected to be sidelined for two or three months.

Chelsea still hope to have Thiago Silva available to face Aston Villa despite the threat of a five-day ban from Fifa after missing Brazil's international fixtures. N'Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic (both ankle) will definitely miss out but Romelu Lukaku is fit to feature after a minor thigh issue on duty with Belgium.

Villa are without Emi Martinez and Emi Buendia, who are in Croatia after returning from international duty with Argentina. Ollie Watkins (knee), John McGinn, Jacob Ramsey (Covid isolation), Bertrand Traore (hamstring) and Leon Bailey (hamstring) are available but Trezeguet (knee) is a long-term absentee. Keinan Davis is out along with Carney Chukwuemeka (adductor).

Leeds could be without Raphinha if Fifa's five-day rule is imposed after the Brazilian winger failed to report for international duty. Deadline-day signing Daniel James is available for his debut and Stuart Dallas is in contention after withdrawing from Northern Ireland's squad last week for personal reasons. Junior Firpo and Mateusz Klich (both coronavirus) should return but Robin Koch (pubis) is still out.

Liverpool are also waiting to find out whether there will be a resolution in the dispute with the Brazil Football Confederation, which could prevent them fielding Alisson Becker and Fabinho. Roberto Firmino (hamstring) is definitely out while Takumi Minamino was injured playing for Japan.

Everton captain Séamus Coleman could be fit as his hamstring injury suffered on international duty is not as bad as first feared. Deadline-day signing Salomon Rondon is set for his first appearance in the squad while defenders Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina and midfielder Tom Davies are back in training and available. Fabian Delph (shoulder) misses out and James Rodriguez is lacking match fitness having not featured this season.

Record signing Maxwel Cornet could make his Clarets debut following his £12.9million move from Lyon. Fellow new arrival Connor Roberts (groin) is ruled out while Kevin Long and Dale Stephens also remain absent. Nathan Collins could feature despite being forced to pull out of the Republic of Ireland’s squad for their World Cup qualifiers due to an unspecified injury.
