Sergio Romero will continue in goal for Manchester United, as Real Madrid target David de Gea sits out another game. Centre back Phil Jones is absent with mild thrombosis and fellow defender Marcos Rojo is lacking match sharpness. Bastian Schweinsteiger could make his first start in midfield, but Marouane Fellaini is suspended.

New signing Florian Thauvin goes straight into the Newcastle squad. He could be joined by fellow midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who is recovering well from a groin problem. Midfielder Siem de Jong is back in training after a shin injury, as is defender Paul Dummett following a hamstring problem, but full back Daryl Janmaat is suspended.

Crystal Palace have no new injury worries. Goalkeeper Julian Speroni (finger) and striker Marouane Chamakh (hamstring) are back in training but will not be risked. Winger Bakary Sako could join the squad for the first time since his switch from Wolves.

Norwich boss Alex Neil has no new injury concerns and could retain the team that won 3-1 at Sunderland last weekend. Defender Martin Olsson (shoulder) and forward Kyle Lafferty (knee) miss out but both should return to contention for their next league outing at Southampton.

Winger Xherdan Shaqiri is set for his Stoke debut and playmaker Bojan Krkic could make his first-team comeback after a long-term knee injury. Defender Marc Wilson is another who could make his first senior appearance of the season having shaken off an ankle complaint. Striker Peter Odemwingie (hamstring) and centre back Ryan Shawcross (back) are sidelined.

Sunderland will be without centre back Younes Kaboul who is struggling with a knee injury, which could mean a first appearance of the season for skipper John O'Shea. Spanish midfielder Jordi Gomez remains sidelined with the knee injury that has delayed his start to the season.

Midfielder Ki Sung-yueng remains a doubt for Swansea after suffering a hamstring injury on the opening day of the season at Chelsea. He is Swansea’s only injury concern as manager Garry Monk seeks to build on a positive start which has seen the Welsh club take four points from their opening two games.

Pedro and Baba Rahman could make their Chelsea debuts after joining this week. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will return from a one-match ban in place of Asmir Begovic, while captain John Terry is likely to start in defence despite being substituted at half-time in last week’s loss at Manchester City. Victor Moses and Oscar are out with undisclosed injuries.

Manchester City are without right back Pablo Zabaleta whose knee injury could sideline him for a month. New signing Nicolas Otamendi is a likely substitute, with captain Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala doing well in central defence recently. Liverpool will assess the fitness of captain Jordan Henderson, who was withdrawn early in the second half of last Monday’s defeat of Bournemouth. Henderson had been taking pain-killers for a foot injury. The return of midfielder Joe Allen (hamstring) remains uncertain while striker Daniel Sturridge continues to recover from hip surgery and defender Jon Flanagan (knee) is out until December.
