Rio Ferdinand will miss the tie as he has been suffering from back spasms and the United medical staff are now working towards the 30-year-old being fit for the title clash with Chelsea at Old Trafford on January 11th.
Carlos Tevez is also absent having been given time off to visit his family in Argentina. Patrice Evra is suspended.

Blyth Spartans boss Harry Dunn is hoping to hand defender Alex White his debut after he agreed to sign from Scottish side Stranraer, with only the paperwork needing to be complete for him to play.
Striker Robert Dale will be available once again after missing the 3-0 defeat to rivals Gateshead in the Blue Square North due to a one-match ban.
Forward Ged Dalton, who scored the last-minute goal against Bournemouth to secure Blyth's place in the third round, is a doubt with a shin injury. Midfielder Chris McCabe and Alex Gildea (both hamstring) and winger Andrew Wright (rib) are all doubtful.
