A delightful Keith Fahey strike, good enough to grace any game, was enough to secure the spoils for St Patrick's Athletic as they overcame Bohemians 1-0 in an incident packed match at Dalymount Park.

Fahey picked up the ball wide on the left on 13 minutes, cut inside and unleashed a magnificent effort from fully 35 yards that left Bohs goalkeeper Brian Murphy grasping at thin air.

Glenn Crowe almost pulled Bohs level before the break and St Pat's defender Joe O'Cearuill was fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty in the second period but the visitors were good value for all three points.

St Pat's finished with just nine men while Bohs had a player of their own dismissed as tempers got a touch heated towards the end of the second half. Dessie Byrne was the first to see red, picking up a second yellow card for petulantly kicking the ball 10 minutes from time.

And within minutes, Byrne was joined in the dressing rooms by visiting goalkeeper Barry Ryan and Bohs midfielder Killian Brennan after an off-the-ball flare up involving a number of players from both sides.
