SOCCER: The FAI today announced details of a new 10-year sponsorship deal with their official kit sponsors Umbro. The new deal comes into play from August next year and is worth €25.6million with the potential to rise to €34million after performance-related bonuses.
As part of this deal, Umbro will also manage the FAI’s on-line store and merchandising license programmes. The sportswear company will also renew its sponsorship of the FAI’s junior, intermediate and youth cups, the Umbro Kennedy Cup and the Umbro Colleges and Universities League.
“I am very happy to agree an enhanced partnership with Umbro as official kit sponsor to the Irish team until 2020. Umbro are wonderful supporters of Irish football,” said John Delaney, FAI chief executive.
“Our ten year agreement with Umbro is part of a global trend towards long term deals which will deliver a guaranteed annual revenue stream, vital for the development of our game at grassroots level.”
Umbro are also involved in this Friday’s Dublin derby between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers at Dalymount Park in an ongoing initiative to support Action Breast Cancer Ireland.
The clubs have agreed to wear a specially designed pink jersey - designed by Umbro Ireland - for the four Premier League encounters between the two sides during the season and hope they can raise over €10,000 for the charity.
