Portugal international Paulo Ferreira has signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea.
Speculation had surrounded the future of the 2004 Champions League winner, who was signed by former boss Jose Mourinho before the 2004-05 season.
The former Porto defender has made 130 appearances for the Blues but has faced stiff competition for the right-back slot from summer recruit Juliano Belletti this season, leading to reports that he was considering leaving the club.
However, the new deal is likely to tie him to Stamford Bridge for the remainder of his career.
Ferreira (29) told the club's website, chelseafc.com: "I am delighted to commit my long-term future to Chelsea.
"The fans have made me very welcome since I have been at Chelsea and I enjoy my football here a lot.
"We have had a lot of success and I am hoping we have more over the coming years."
