SOCCER NEWS:Steve Finnan has passed his medical and will be officially unveiled as an Espanyol player this evening.
The Catalan club signed the Irish full-back two weeks ago but due to his involvement in Ireland's World Cup games against Georgia and Montenegro he only arrived in Barcelona last night.
This morning Finnan underwent a medical examination at the Clinica Creu Blanca in Barcelona and is expected to have his first training session with the rest of the Espanyol squad tomorrow morning.
A statement on the club's webstie read: "This morning he missed training due to the medical tests but will be officially presented as a Pericothis evening at 6pm at the Estadi Olímpic de Lluis Companys".
Finnan became Espanyol's last singing of the season when he signed from Liverpool with winger Albert Riera going the other way.
Espanyol are currently top of the Primera Liga with maximum points from their two opening games.
