Quinton Fortune will re-ignite his career at Bolton after signing a one-year deal. The 29-year-old has been training with the club for the past few weeks after being released by Manchester United.
The South African played his second match for the club in the draw against Rangers and has impressed manager Sam Allardyce with his attitude.
He had been tipped to sign for Celtic, only for the Glasgow giants to go cold on the deal.
Allardyce is delighted to have sealed a deal with Fortune.
"Quinton is a player I have admired for a very long time, " he said. "He is a quality performer with plenty of Premier League experience and he can play in a number of positions.
"He will be a very welcome addition to our squad."
Fortune is hoping to get his career back on track and stay injury-free. His Old Trafford career was dogged by a variety of problems.
The former Atletico Madrid player can operate either in central midfield or on the left-hand side and also played at left-back during his time at United.
His experience will also be valuable as Bolton look to consolidate their position as a top-10 Premiership club.
