SOCCER: Provisional dates for the Four Associations' tournament, due to take place in Dublin in 2011, were announced following a meeting in Copenhagen today.
The proposed tournament will operate on a league basis with six matches to be played between the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The first two games are scheduled for February 8th and 9th with the remaining four games to take place three months later on May 24th, 25th, 27th and 28th.
“The Four Associations’ tournament will be the first ever tournament to be hosted by the FAI in Dublin,” John Delaney, FAI chief executive. “We expect huge numbers of fans to travel and alongside the Uefa Europa League Final (Uefa Cup) which will also be hosted in Dublin in May (2011), the tournament will be a major boost for the tourism and hospitality industry.
“Both events will make for a real festival of football and will provide a fitting celebration for Aviva Stadium (Lansdowne Road) which is on schedule for completion next year.”
