France's European Championship Group B qualifier against the Faroe Islands has been given the go-ahead after the plane carrying the French party finally landed in Torshavn today.
Dense fog and freezing rain had forced pilots to abort two attempted landings yesterday before they re-routed to Bergen in Norway.
Les Bleus' plane finally touched down this afternoon, just a few hours before the scheduled kick-off time of 4pm.
Under Uefa rules, France could have requested that the match be postponed owing to their late arrival, but they have opted to play the game as scheduled in order to maximise their recovery time ahead of their qualifier against Lithuania on Wednesday.
The Faroes will also be pleased that the match goes ahead as planned with the squad scheduled to fly out for their midweek qualifier in Ukraine on Sunday.
France are currently third in Group B, one point adrift of Italy and two behind leaders Scotland.
