eircom League round-up: Finn Harps will join Cobh Ramblers and UCD in playing First Division football next season despite a battling 2-0 win over Shamrock Rovers. Galway United will stay in the top flight by virtue of their narrow 1-0 over UCD.
In tonight's other outstanding matter, Sligo Rovers secured a place in the Uefa Cup after they hammered Bray Wanderers 3-0. Cork City had been in the box seat to qualify for Europe but a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bohemians put paid to their chances.
Galway brought the curtain down on an eventful, if nerve wracking, season with a scrappy, hard-fought win over the Students. John Fitzgerald was the match-winner, his effort on 36 minutes allowing the visitors to survive.
At Finn Park, meanwhile, the home side coped admirably with the horrendous conditions to keep the pressure on Jeff Kenna's men. But goals from Marc Mukendi and Conor Gethins would ultimately prove too little too late for the Ballybofey club.
Sligo, meanwhile, are celebrating the realisation of their Uefa Cup dream after goals from Almeida and  Conor O'Grady earned the points against Bray.
Cork's hopes of another European campaign were extinguished as goals by Glenn Cronin, Killian Brennan and Mindaugas Kalonas gave Pat Fenlon's Bohemians a third win of the season over the Leesiders.
