League of Ireland round-up: Surprise package Galway United earned a point as Barry Ryan kept out an injury-time penalty at the Carlisle Grounds. Gary McCabe had levelled matters from the spot just minutes before but was unable to beat Ryan a second time as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Galway stay top of the table, level on points with Bohemians and Derry City.
Defending champions Bohemians earned the bragging rights against their Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers thanks to a Jason Byrne double at Dalymount Park.
Byrne fired home from the spot after Gary Deegan was hauled down in the area and secured the points midway through the second half after a fine move involving Deegan and Joseph Ndo.
Derry kept pace with the leaders thanks to late, late goals from Ciaran Martyn and Aaron Nash at home to Cork City. Trailing 1-0 heading into injury time, Martyn levelled matters and then Nash snatched the win from the visitor’s grasp.
Elsewhere, Dundalk claimed the spoils in the Louth derby and their first win of the new season with a 3-0 win over neighbours Drogheda United.
The Premier Division newcomers were gifted the opener after Drogheda defender Conor Kenna saw red for handling in the area with Chris Turner stroking home the ensuing penalty.
Dundalk doubled their advantage before the interval when Darren Mansaram bundled home from close range and put the result beyond doubt three minutes into the second half through a second Turner spot kick.
