Tansfer News: Liverpool Scott Carson will join West Brom after the two clubs agreed a £4million deal for the England man, while former Reds goalkeeper Brad Friedel has expressed his desire to leave Blackburn Rovers and West Ham's Robert Green is feeling unloved.
The Baggies beat Stoke City to Carson's signature this afternoon after he feel down the pecking order at Anfield following the arrival of Brazilian Diego Cavaleri.
Stoke agreed a €4.4m fee with the Reds earlier this week and held talks with Carson only to pull out of the move on Thursday.
West Brom also negotiated a deal with the Merseyside club and the former Leeds player has agreed a four-year deal at The Hawthorns.
His agent Colin Gordon has confirmed the deal has been done to bring Carson to West Brom.
"The deal has been done," Gordon told skysports.com. "Scott has signed a four-year deal with West Brom.
"They will pay €4.1m which will rise to €5m for Scott."
Friedel, meanwhile, has told new manager Paul Ince he wishes to leave Ewood Park with Aston Villa and Manchester City believed to have tabled bids.
"We've had two bids for Brad, despite my insistence to the clubs concerned we didn't want them. They've been rejected," Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"When Brad told us he wanted to leave, it was a bolt out of the blue - he had only signed his latest contract back in February, and a replacement keeper has not even been on our radar.
"It's an unwelcome situation for us, and particularly for Paul, who has been concentrating on other targets, as well as assessing our squad and bedding in his new backroom staff.
"We are very keen for Brad to stay but to deny him the move he clearly wants after a lengthy stint with the club is difficult.
At Upton Park there is more unrest with Green claiming the club "don't about him", but West Ham chief executive Scott Duxbury today responded by declaring: "Less than a year ago Robert Green entered into a five-year contract," Duxbury told the club's official website.
"The club were delighted to recognise his status as our number one goalkeeper and rewarded him with this long-term deal.
"At the time the player entered into the new contract he requested a mechanism to review the terms in summer 2009.
"This was and remains the appropriate time to review it.
Green had told The Sun: "No matter what the figures are in the workplace in terms of wages, you either feel a valued member of your staff or you don't," he said. "At the moment, I don't and clearly West Ham don't care about me.
"If you put the strongest West Ham XI out, I'd be the lowest earner by a long, long way.
"I do not even want to be close to the top earner at the club - I don't care about that. I would just like some parity."
