Soccer: Former Sky Sportspundits Andy Gray and Richard Keys have signed up for a new morning programme with talkSPORTradio in Britain, weeks after their careers at the satellite broadcaster ended after off-air sexist comments were leaked to the media.
Gray was sacked by the broadcaster after further off-air evidence came to light and Keys later resigned after a rambling hour-long interview with the very station he has now signed up to.
The pair will front a new three-hour daytime show that will run from Monday to Friday starting on February 14th.
"I can't tell you how excited I am about joining the talkSPORTteam," Gray said. "It's an ideal opportunity for Richard and me to do what we do best, and that's talk about sport."
Keys added: "This is the start of something new and exciting for Andy and myself. We are delighted to be joining the talkSPORTfamily and can't wait to get going."
The pair sparked controversy last month when, in comments later leaked to the press, they questioned the ability of assistant referee Sian Massey ahead of the Premier League meeting between Wolves and Liverpool at Molineaux.
Keys went on to use the now infamous “give us a break love” line, when referring to an article on sexism in football written by West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady.
Their comments drew widespread condemnation and Massey was stood down from a number of fixtures as a result, though the official was said to be frustrated at the FA's decision to do so.
When further footage of Gray, who was reportedly paid €2 million a year at Sky, asking a female colleague to help him tuck his microphone into his trousers emerged, the writing was on the wall for the Scot.Keys later resigned after telling talkSPORT: "Our prehistoric banter is not acceptable in a modern world. We were wrong. It was wrong. It shouldn't have happened," though many were not entirely convinved by the tone of apology.
"This is great news for talkSPORTand we're very excited about the new programme and these additions to our strengthening line-up," the stations programme director Moz Dee said today. "Andy and Richard are iconic broadcasters with massive TV careers who I know will have an impact on national radio, so it's great for the industry."
