Uefa Cup previews: Gretna manager Rowan Alexander has insisted his side will be underdogs when they face Derry City tomorrow night, despite a fairytale season that saw the club reach the final of the Scottish Cup.
Stephen Kenny's side meet Gretna in the final preliminary round of the Uefa Cup tomorrow night after knocking out two-time winners IFK Gothenburg in the last qualifying round.
And the Gretna boss believes that result gives the eircom League runners-up the edge.
"Knowing how well they coped with Gothenburg that would suggest their experience over a European campaign is more than we have," said Alexander. "We won't be taking Derry City lightly that's for sure. They are a very strong, physical, hardworking side. They are disciplined and very well organised."
Derry face injury concerns, with Pat McCourt, Kevin Deery, Gary Beckett and Stephen O'Flynn all undergoing fitness tests ahead of the game. Midfielder Killin Brennan is definitely out.
Drogheda United travel to face Start IK in Norway after a dramatic 4-2 aggregate victory over HJK Helsinki in the first qualifying round.
IK Start finished second in the Norwegian top division last season but Drogheda will find them in rather less impressive form.
Recent wins over Lyn Oslo and Rosenberg take their victory tally to just four in 15 games so far this Norwegian season.
Striker Declan O'Brien is back in training after breaking his jaw against Bray five weeks ago. He is not yet ready to play in Norway - but the remaining wires are removed from his jaw tomorrow and he should be available for the return leg in a fortnight's time.
