Transfer news: Despite a a proposed move to Ipswich falling through, Republic of Ireland striker Daryl Murphy is still poised to leave Sunderland after Hull agreed a fee for the player. Murphy will hold talks with Hull later this week.

Murphy has been deemed surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light by new manager Steve Bruce and looks set to become Hull's first signing of the summer.

The 26-year-old still needs to agree personal terms, apparently the sticking point in his failure to move to Ipswich, and undergo a medical but Brown is optimistic the deal can be concluded.

"It's advanced and we've spoken to Sunderland and agreed terms," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail. "Hopefully in the next 48 hours it might progress to a stage where we can complete a medical.

"It's an initial fee of £1.5m (€1.75m) building up to £2.5m (€2.9m) that has been agreed and I hope to meet with him on Thursday. Hopefully by then we'll have progressed it further."

Fellow Irishman Rory Delaphas agreed a one-year extension with Stoke Citythat will tie him to the club until 2011.

"I'm delighted to sign for an extra year," Delap told the club's official website. "I said before that I'd like to stay here for as long as I can, and for as long as I feel fit

"I think we exceeded everyone's expectations last year, apart from our own, and we've got to do it all again next season."

Wigandefenders Titus Brambleand Emmerson Boycehave committed their futures to the club by signing new contract extensions.

The pair are both now tied to the Latics until 2012 with new boss Roberto Martinez happy to sanction deals which were put in place at the end of last season.

Martinez told the club's official website: "When you look at the performances of the two players over recent seasons it's a great reward from the club to offer them contract extensions.

"They're real ambassadors for the club and great professionals who give you a good sense of continuity and competitiveness.

"They offer stability, set themselves high standards and are excellent examples to follow.

"Both are at a great moment in their careers and I think they're best years are still to come, so we're very lucky to have players of that calibre."
