Hull have agreed a €5.8 million fee with Fulham for striker Bobby Zamora, the London club have announced. And the Tigers remain hopeful of completing a deal for Republic of Ireland international Daryl Murphy in the coming days.
Zamora , 28, emerged as a target after they were beaten to the signings of Marc-Antoine Fortune and Fraizer Campbell by Celtic and Sunderland respectively.
Hull will now hope to meet with the player to discuss terms. Any deal could take time to come to fruition with Zamora currently on the Cottagers’ pre-season tour of Australia.
Zamora scored just two goals last season after his move from West Ham but his partnership with Andy Johnson was still largely deemed a success.
The former England Under-21 international made his name during a prolific spell with Brighton but he then failed to establish himself after a high-profile move to Tottenham.
He joined West Ham in February 2004 and scored 30 goals for the Upton Park club.
Manager Phil Brown is hoping to speak to Murphy tomorrow after returning from a training camp in Italy.
While Brown attempts to strengthen his striking options, winger Bernard Mendy has indicated a desire to leave the KC Stadium if he gets a suitable offer.
The 27-year-old Frenchman made 33 appearances for City last season after joining on a free transfer from Paris St Germain.
