Reading striker Noel Hunt has been called up to Giovanni's Republic of Ireland squad to face Poland in Croke Park on Wednesday after the withdrawal of Celtic winger Aiden McGeady with a calf injury.
McGeady has been out of action of late and was not included in the Celtic side that beat Hamilton Academical 2-1 this afternoon.
The switch is not exactly like for like and is sure to raise questions about the continued omission of Andy Reid from the squad, but for Hunt, the younger brother of Reading an Ireland winger Stephen, it represents reward for his impressive form at club level.
The former Dundee United striker has scored eight goals in 17 appearances for his new club this season but has yet to win an international cap.
Captain Robbie Keane did not train today because of a knock picked up in Liverpool's win over Bolton yesterday but the Tallaght man is expected to be fit to play.
Reading striker Kevin Doyle was nursing a head injury but it too is said to be minor.
