Stephen Hunt feels Hull can now head into a tough month of fixtures with confidence after finding their scoring touch in a remarkable 3-2 defeat of Everton.

Hull began November in the bottom three of the Barclays Premier League and with manager Phil Brown reportedly one bad result away from the sack.

The situation has turned dramatically with victory over Stoke followed by a draw against West Ham and last night’s win over the Toffees.

Those three games have yielded eight goals and put Hull in good heart for a difficult run which begins with a trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

The Tigers then play Aston Villa, Blackburn, Arsenal, Manchester United and Bolton before the end of the year.

Hunt, who scored the opener against Everton, said: “We have got some tough games but we go into them with a bit of confidence. We have scored some goals.

“It’s been fairly entertaining for the last couple of games and hopefully we can take that to Eastlands on Saturday.

“I don’t think our commitment has ever been in question in terms of desire to win matches and do well. The lads are a great bunch and we are all honest.”

Hull set up last night’s win by racing ahead with goals from Hunt, Andy Dawson and Dean Marney inside the opening half hour.

Everton got back into the back with a Kamil Zayatte own goal and Louis Saha’s penalty but Hull held on.

The win lifted Hull four points clear of the relegation zone but Hunt insisted nobody was getting ahead of themselves.

The 28-year-old said: “We have played Everton at a good time, they have gone through a bad patch.

“I’m sure David Moyes will get them going again so it is a massive win for us.

“Man City will be flying, they need the win big time. They are a very powerful team and they have an awful lot of speed. We will need to match them.”

Hunt is now hoping he is back in the goals himself having struck for the first time since his efforts in the opening two games of the season.

He said: “It was nice to get a goal and hopefully get going again. Hopefully I’ll have five or six by Christmas.”
