Injury concerns over Vieira ease

France captain Patrick Vieira resumed training today, suggesting his thigh injury would not rule him out of Euro 2008.

France captain Patrick Vieira resumed training today, suggesting his thigh injury would not rule him out of Euro 2008.

Forward Thierry Henry and winger Franck Ribery pulled out of France's first training session at their Swiss base after half an hour, although neither appeared to be seriously hurt.

Midfielder Vieira, who had not trained since hurting a left thigh muscle last Friday in a training session for a warm-up game, trained normally with his team mates.

Vieira will definitely miss France's opening game against Romania on June 9th in Zurich but could be fit for the remainder of the tournament.

Mathieu Flamini, who was called up in case Vieira had to withdraw, would then go home. A final decision is expected by Sunday.

Ribery trained on his own, jogging around the pitch, and was seen holding his right ankle before leaving the session. A team spokesman said he had received a knock in France's 1-0 win over Colombia in their final warm-up on Tuesday.
