Holders St Pat’s head to Cork in FAI Cup draw

Having waited a long, long time to win it again St Patrick's Athletic are having to defend the FAI Cup the hard way with Liam Buckley's side having been drawn away to Cork City in the third around after having beaten Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers to get this far.

The Inchicore outfit will visit Turner’s Cross in one of four all Premier Division ties drawn this morning at the Showgrounds by Martin O’Neill and FAI President Tony Fitzgerald.

In the other clashes between top flight sides, Bohemians will host Bray Wanderers, Dundalk will travel to Galway United and Derry City will take on Drogheda United at the Brandywell.

The draw also produced one all Leinsier Senior League tie - between Tolka Rovers and Killester United, ensuring that there will be non-league representation in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Sligo Rovers, meanwhile, who were one of the last four clubs out of the hat along with the holders, Cork and another non-league side, Cobh Wanderers, will travel to the Munster Senior League side.

"They'll make it tough for us and we'll respect them," said Rovers' Gavin Dykes "but when you look at the last four teams that were left in there, we didn't do too badly. We'd have preferred a home draw but let's put it this way, I'd prefer to go to Cobh Wanderers than to Cork City."
