The Republic of Ireland continued their build-up to the forthcoming friendly internationals with a second training match against local opposition in Portugal this evening.
Following yesterday's underwhelming 1-1 draw against Second Division Portimonense, non-league Lagos were comfortably beaten 3-1 by Giovanni Trapattoni's experimental side in the warm evening sunshine on the Algarve.
An early own-goal by Uriel, after the home side failed to deal with captain Damien Duff's corner, set the Irish on their way. And with further promptings from an animated Trapattoni, a 25-yard Darren Potter put the tourists 2-0 up at the break.
Lagos did manage to pull one back early in the second-half but Andy Keogh restored the two-goal advantage after some excellent work from Duff in the box.
Predictably, Trapattoni emptied the bench making eight changes in all but despite carving out some excellent chances, Ireland were unable to add to the scoreline.
Rep of Ireland: J Murphy; S Kelly, D Delaney, P McShane, A Bruce, S Hunt, A Keogh, D Potter, D Duff, G Whelan, K Doyle.
