Tottenham striker and Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane will be looking to hit the net against Bolton at the weekend to beat last year's goal tally of 22.

Keane has three games to improve his total after matching his efforts from 2006-07, with Bolton the next to visit White Hart Lane tomorrow, before Spurs face Reading and then Liverpool.

"I have been fairly happy with what I have done this season," he said. "The first part of the season is probably the best I have played. I wanted it to be better than last season, so I need another goal."

Juande Ramos won a trophy within four months at the club but Keane believes next season is when the work of the head coach will really pay off.

Ramos arrived from Sevilla and made radical changes in an attempt to break Spurs' culture of failure, with new diets for his squad and an emphasis on fitness.

Keane feels February's Carling Cup triumph is just a glimpse of what is to come, warning the Premier League to expect Tottenham to improve further in Ramos' first full season.

"Next season, you will see the benefits of the manager and everything else," Keane said. "This season has been stop-start for everybody because of certain situations.

"You will see the real Tottenham. The way the manager wants the team to play, that will come next season."

Ramos is expected to bring in his own players in the summer.

The Spaniard has been linked with Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni since the last transfer window but could have competition as Atletico Madrid and Valencia have been reported to have tabled bids.

Paul Robinson has been previously dropped by Ramos this season but could get a chance to impress against Bolton as he is fit again after an ankle injury.
