Soccer:Roy Keane has now become favourite to take over from Sven-Goran Eriksson at Leicester City after Huddersfield boss Lee Clark ruled himself out of the running today.
The former Newcastle midfielder has led the League One side on a 41-game unbeaten run and is keen to continue the job at the Yorkshire club.
“I want to put an end to this speculation, I am not interested in the Leicester vacancy,” said Clark. “All I’m interested in is moving forward with the job at Huddersfield.
“I apologise to anyone if not commenting on this earlier has caused any issues for the supporters. Regardless, now is the time that I want to put these rumours to an end. Obviously on a personal level it is satisfying to be linked to jobs at clubs in a higher division, but that is all I take from these links.”
Former Sunderland and Ipswich boss Keane is now the 2/1 favourite to take over the reins at the Championship side after they recently parted company with former England boss Eriksson.
Keane, 40, has been out of work since being let go by Ipswich in January, but has enjoyed a strong media profile in recent weeks, including appearing as an analyst on UTV’s Champions League coverage.
