Robbie Keane insists Liverpool will not allow themselves to be intimidated by Chelsea's four-year unbeaten home league record.

The Irishman, who is something of a rarity in football these days in that he has a cup-winners' medal at Chelsea's expense, claims that Liverpool will be aiming for their best-ever start to a season in the Premier League when the two unbeaten clubs clash tomorrow.

If Liverpool do win at Stamford Bridge, it will be the 600th top-flight away win in their history and will give them 23 points from nine games, beating their 2002-03 record by two points.

Keane, who is expected to recover from a groin strain to play in west London, said: "We know it will not be easy at Chelsea, because they have this amazing home record and have started the season very well.

"But that does not mean we will be intimidated by them or anything like that.

"You have to be confident you can go there and win, you cannot be going into games believing you cannot get the right result.

"Chelsea's record is great, they have a great squad and we respect them. But if you are not confident going into a game like this then you have no chance."

Liverpool have gone 15 games unbeaten, dating back to their Champions League semi-final defeat at Stamford Bridge in April.

Keane was still at Tottenham then, no doubt still celebrating his goal against Chelsea in last season's Carling Cup final at Wembley, when the north Londoners won 2-1.

The Irishman continued: "That was probably my best moment against Chelsea, but this is a new season with a new team."

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will give Keane a late fitness test on his groin problem, but has confirmed that Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso are fit after minor knocks in Wednesday's Champions League draw with Atletico Madrid.

There will be no Fernando Torres in Liverpool's ranks at Stamford Bridge, with Benitez ruling out the hamstring victim.

He said: He has no chance for this weekend, we will have to see next week."

Torres could return at home to Portsmouth on Wednesday, and by then Liverpool could be top of the table.

But to do so they will have to end a wretched record of their own at Chelsea.

They have won in the league there only once in 18 years, and have lost 10 of their last 12 league visits, and in Premier League seasons have managed just seven out of 48 points there.

Chelsea have not lost in their last 29 league matches and have kept six consecutive clean sheets.
