Soccer: Noel King's Republic of Ireland under-21s were beaten 1-0 by Turkey in their second 2013 European Championships qualifier.

Group Seven leaders Turkey scored nine goals in their two matches before this but managed only one this evening, and that came in the 10th minute from Sahin Aygunes.

Ireland are now third in the group behind Italy, with one win from two games, having beaten Hungary 2-1 in Sligo last week.

Northern Ireland's hopes of qualification suffered a blow as they slumped to defeat against 10-man Denmark.

It was the second defeat in a week for Steve Beaglehole's side following their 1-0 loss in Serbia and leaves them struggling on four points from four games in Group Four.

They went behind after only six minutes as Nicklas Helenius netted. The hosts were given some hope when Mathias Jorgensen was dismissed after 42 minutes but the second half was even worse for Beaglehole's side.

As they pushed for an equaliser substitute Andreas Laudrup scored Denmark's second with nine minutes to go, before Emil Larsen added a third late on.
