Soccer:Croatia midfielder Niko Kranjcar is in danger of missing the Euro 2012 finals after it was confirmed he will miss the rest of the English Premier League season with a knee injury. Kranjcar suffered the injury in training with Tottenham last week and missed Spurs' FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.
It had been hoped the versatile midfielder would be able to play some part in Tottenham’s run-in, but manager Harry Redknapp claimed that would not be possible this morning, telling the club’s official website: “Niko is out for the season.”
Kranjcar played a key role in Croatia’s qualification campaign, finishing as his country’s top scorer, and his absence in Poland would be keenly felt. A mainstay of Slaven Bilic’s side, who are due to meet the Republic of Ireland, Spain and Italy in the tournament, Kranjcar found the back of the net four times during their qualifying campaign with the goals all coming with against Israel and Malta.
