The Republic of Ireland will take on Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in a four-nation tournament in the spring on 2011, it was confirmed this afternoon. The matches will take place at the redeveloped Lansdowne Road.
The first two matches will be played in February and four more following in May. The tournament will be on a league basis with the four sides playing for the 4 Associations Cup.
Chief executive of the Football Association of Ireland John Delaney said: "This will be the first time Ireland has hosted a senior international tournament and the atmosphere around Dublin will be tremendous.
"The tournament will be a fitting celebration for our fantastic new stadium which is on schedule for completion in 2010."
The news comes on the same day that Delaney announced prices for the FAI's premium and corporate packages, the new Vantage Club, for the next 10 years.
The cheapest option for premium seats - behind the goal in the south stand - will set fans back a cool €12,000 while a place on halfway line will lighten supporter's bank balances to the tune of €32,000.
A total of 80 corporate boxes will also be offered to businesses and sponsors although the prices for these have not been published.
"The product on offer to Vantage Club clients is second to none and, with an exciting 10 years ahead of us, I have no doubt that this marks a significant milestone for Irish football," Delaney added.
