Setanta Cup review:Linfield remain top of Group Two in the Setanta Cup this evening after a late equaliser against St Patrick's Athletic at Windsor Park.

The Belfast side are joined on seven points by Derry City after a 2-0 win over Glentoran at the Brandywell.

The Candystripes took the lead in the 35th minute thanks to a goal from Ruaidhri Higgins and sealed the win through Mark Farren in the second period.

At Windsor Park Pat's were deserved leaders at break after controlling the first half.

They took the lead through Keith Fahey in the 40th minute when Mark Quigley beat the offside trap on the left and stood up an inviting cross the back post.

Fahey had read his intentions and arrived late to power home the header from close range.

Ryan Guy could have doubled the lead moments later had Quigley's return ball been more precise.

Linfield were almost back on level terms immediately after the restart when Michael Carvill's ball tempted Barry Ryan out of his goal only for the Pat's goalkeeper to be rounded by Jamie Mulgrew.

The midfielder cut his cross back nicely but when the ball broke to the onrushing Glenn Ferguson the striker could not hit the target.

Quigley and Fahey then went close for Pat's but the homeside were threatening and should have equalised through Mark Miskimmin, but the youngster glanced his header straight at Ryan.

Linfield could sense an equaliser and it almost came through captain Noel Bailie who, having seen his first effort blocked by his own man, fired the rebound at Ryan who save well with his legs.

The inevitable finally arrived when, after Stephen Brennan brilliantly cleared off the line, Pat's conceded a free-kick on the edge of the box.

A rehearsed routine saw the ball shifted to Mulgrew whose shot was deflected into the net for a thoroughly merited draw for the homeside.
