Limerick FC will find out later today if their appeal against the decision not to be granted a UEFA licence is successful or not.
The club was informed by the FAI almost two weeks ago that they were the only eircom League side not be granted a licence. Failure to meet infrastrucural requirements is believed to be the primary reason why they were denied a licence.
The FAI had five days to reply to Limerick's appeal and club chairman Danny Drew is hopeful the situation will be resolved by Christmas.
"It is an uncertain time for the club but I would be confident that we will be granted our UEFA licence," said Drew. "I would like to see everything sorted out by Christmas at the latest as the uncertainty is unfair on the players.
"The players have shown great patience over the last few weeks and they deserve to know where they stand."
