Setanta Cup: Linfield lived up to their billing as Setanta Cup champions as they trounced Belfast rivals Glentoran 6-0 at Windsor Park tonight.
The result takes the Blues into the semi-finals of the cross-border competition. Andrew Hunter opened the scoring with a penalty in the 25th minute, Peter Thompson scored either side of the half, another brace from Paul McAreavey and the sixth from William Murphy ensured a miserable night for the Glens.
The away team were also reduced to 10-men after Mark Glendinning was sent-off. Linfield finish top of Group Two which guarantees then a home tie in the semi-finals.
In tonight's other Group Two game Shelbourne were pegged back and had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Derry City.
